Pune Liquor Tragedy: Death Toll Rises as Key Supplier Arrested
A tragic incident in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad has left 14 men dead due to the consumption of spurious liquor. Eight suspects have been arrested, and the investigation is now under the CID. Officials are awaiting lab reports to confirm the cause of deaths.

In a deeply distressing event, 14 people in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad have died after allegedly consuming toxic liquor. Law enforcement has arrested eight individuals, including a chief supplier, and has transferred the investigation to the Crime Investigation Department.
The incident, described as 'extremely serious' by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has prompted authorities to identify the entire network involved in distributing the illicit liquor. Preliminary findings suggest the drinks were laced with methanol, and test results are awaited to confirm the cause of death.
The deaths occurred across two areas: ten in Phugewadi and four in Hadapsar. Despite efforts from emergency responders, five individuals remain hospitalized. Locals are in mourning and authorities are intensifying their crackdown on illegal liquor operations. In addition, Rohit Pawar and associates have taken direct action by dismantling a suspected liquor establishment in Hadapsar.
