Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla emphasized the therapeutic benefits of yoga, stating it purifies both the body and mind. He urged its use as a tool to combat the rising drug abuse among the youth in the state.
During the 11th International Day of Yoga, Governor Shukla noted that Himachal Pradesh, known for its spiritual heritage, attracts devotees from across the country. He lamented, however, that some of the state's youth have succumbed to drug abuse, suggesting that yoga can play a crucial role in addressing this issue.
The governor participated in a yoga session with students at Raj Bhawan, reflecting on the state's spiritual connection with yoga as the land of Devi Parvati, who practiced yoga to attain Lord Shiva. The event, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw widespread participation across the state in yoga practices marking the occasion.
