The unfortunate event occurred as fans celebrated MC Alger's consecutive league title win. The Beni Messous University Hospital received 38 injured individuals, while Ben Aknoun and Bab El Oued hospitals admitted 27 and 16 injured people, respectively.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed condolences for the fatalities and wished the injured a quick recovery. Local media reported that a broken fence led to the fall, with players and staff donating blood as the trophy ceremony was postponed.
