A 15-year-old girl from Noida has successfully undergone corrective spinal surgery, transforming her life and allowing her to overcome a severe curvature that threatened her health. A team at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, led by Dr. Tarun Suri, performed the procedure.

Diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, Aadya faced not only physical challenges but also emotional and psychological ones. The condition, left untreated, could have compromised her lung and heart function. Advanced surgical methods, including intraoperative neuro-monitoring, an ultrasonic bone scalpel, and cell savers, corrected her spine.

Discharged five days post-surgery, Aadya returned to school within two months, regaining confidence just in time for her board exams. Her family initially mistook her posture for a minor issue, not scoliosis. Dr. Suri emphasized the need for awareness, as AIS affects one in 10 children and is more prevalent in girls, often undiagnosed due to insufficient school screenings.
