A minor fire erupted early Tuesday morning in the seminar room of the burns ward at Victoria Hospital, leading to the relocation of 26 patients. According to officials, no injuries were reported.
The incident is believed to have been triggered by a short circuit in a nearby switchboard. A vigilant resident doctor noticed the fire promptly and alerted the hospital authorities. The fire department responded quickly and managed to extinguish the blaze.
Among the relocated patients were 14 men, five women, and seven children. Victoria Hospital's Dean, Ramesh Krishna K, stated that precautionary measures ensured the safe transfer of all patients and staff to the H Block, and confirmed that the situation is now under control.
