Axis Bank has announced a strategic partnership with Antara Psychiatric Hospital to establish a groundbreaking mental health education centre in Eastern India. The initiative aims to fill a significant void in mental healthcare training by offering accredited programmes in psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work, and counselling.
Known as the Axis Bank-Antara Institute of Health Sciences, the facility is set to be one of the largest in Eastern India dedicated solely to mental health education. In May 2025, Antara became the first hospital in West Bengal accredited for the DNB (Psychiatry) programme, marking a significant milestone.
The institute plans to launch its academic programmes in phases beginning in 2026, with enrolment for 200 students annually targeted by 2028. Axis Bank commits to inclusive growth, stressing the importance of mental wellness for a resilient society. Dr. Matthew P. John from Antara highlights the transformative potential of this partnership in bridging a crucial healthcare gap.
