Honoring Healers: The Vital Role of Doctors in India's Progress
President Droupadi Murmu praised doctors for their crucial role in national development, emphasizing advancements in life expectancy, disease eradication, and vaccination progress. Speaking at AIIMS-Kalyani's first convocation, she urged future doctors to continue this legacy and contribute to health issues like diabetes and obesity through both medical expertise and lifestyle guidance.

On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the pivotal role doctors have played in India's advancement by eliminating diseases, increasing life expectancy, and advancing vaccination efforts.
Addressing AIIMS-Kalyani's inaugural convocation, Murmu celebrated West Bengal's second chief minister, Dr. B C Roy, for his medical contributions.
Urging doctors to remain informed and serve the less privileged, Murmu cited the progress from a life expectancy of 32 at Independence to 70 today, stressing doctors' roles in tackling health issues like diabetes and obesity.
