A new 15-bed de-addiction centre is set to open in Swarghat, Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district, aiming to provide crucial support for individuals struggling with drug addiction, according to official statements. Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar confirmed that formalities are complete for this initiative, which will operate under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
This centre will offer a comprehensive suite of services, including treatment, counselling, and rehabilitation, facilitating reintegration into society for those affected by substance abuse. It will feature modern amenities such as rooms, nutritious meals, gyms, and meditation spaces to ensure holistic recovery.
The location, vulnerable to increased drug trafficking due to its proximity to state borders and major highways, underscores the importance of this initiative. As emphasized during a district committee meeting, narcotic seizures have risen, heightening the need for awareness campaigns, especially among the youth, in educational institutions throughout the region.
