As India advances in digital healthcare, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has emerged as a transformative force, linking over 65.09 crore health records to 79.71 crore accounts by July 2025. This was announced by Minister of State for Health Prataprao Jadhav in the Lok Sabha recently.
ABDM seeks to create an interoperable health ecosystem through a longitudinal electronic health record for every citizen. To achieve this, a total of 4.17 lakh health facilities and approximately 6.76 lakh healthcare professionals have been registered under the Health Facility Registry. Internet connectivity issues in remote areas are being tackled with offline modes for health records.
Prataprao Jadhav highlighted the collaboration between the National Health Authority and state governments to ensure the effective rollout of ABDM, which enhances healthcare access through telemedicine services, such as eSanjeevani. This service, operational in 36 states and UTs, has facilitated over 39 crore consultations, demonstrating its vital role in the national healthcare infrastructure.
