The Delhi government has announced plans to set up more than 100 Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (UAAMs) by 2025. This ambitious project aims to enhance healthcare accessibility for residents across the capital.
A total of 108 sites have been identified for the establishment of these clinics, according to government officials. They will be under various civic agencies, including the Public Works Department (PWD), the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Some existing Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics will undergo renovation to transform into UAAMs.
However, hurdles remain as the project has encountered delays due to pending No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from various agencies. Despite challenges, the Delhi government has sanctioned Rs 1,749 crore to facilitate the rollout, which aligns with a health agreement signed earlier this year to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi.
