In the wake of the devastating Ahmedabad plane crash in June that claimed 260 lives, Air India has taken proactive steps to address the emotional and mental well-being of its staff. The Tata Group-owned airline has launched an innovative app designed to support its pilots, cabin crew members, and their families with over 600 expert-designed self-care techniques, in addition to offering personalized therapy and psychiatry sessions.

The app not only provides tools for journaling and mood tracking but also features an AI-powered chatbot to assist users. This initiative aligns with the DGCA's directives for airlines to offer specialized mental health training for flight crew and ensure access to Peer Support Programmes (PSP), helping them manage stress, anxiety, and trauma.

The crash investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau revealed that fuel supply cutoff led to the accident. Amidst this, the government reported an increase in sick leaves among pilots, underscoring the need for mental health support.
