A powerloom worker tragically succumbed to rabies on Tuesday at the general hospital after being bitten by a pet dog three months prior. According to a close relative, the worker was injured while trying to stop the dog from attacking a child.
Family members repeatedly advised him to seek medical treatment and receive injections to prevent complications from the dog bite, but he chose not to. The worker's son, who was also bitten, followed medical advice and is currently healthy. The worker's symptoms deteriorated on Monday, prompting a visit to a private hospital in Tharamangalam, where a rabies infection was confirmed.
Doctors reported that the worker exhibited hydrophobia and exhibited symptoms analogous to canine behavior. Later transferred to the general hospital, medical professionals determined that his condition was beyond recovery, and he passed away shortly thereafter.
