An ailing health worker was urgently airlifted to a hospital in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, police reported Wednesday, after floodwaters cut off road access.
Elsewhere, tragedy struck as a school headmaster drowned in a swollen stream, authorities disclosed. Seema Bambole, assigned to the Primary Healthcare Center at Arewada village within the Bhamragad police limits, became critically ill Tuesday amidst relentless rain striking the region. More than 100 villages in Bhamragad tehsil were isolated from district headquarters by overflowing rivers, according to police officials.
The district administration, alongside Zilla Parishad and police, coordinated an aerial rescue with a Pawan Hans helicopter, transporting Bambole to the District General Hospital, where doctors later confirmed her stable condition. Meanwhile, the lifeless body of 43-year-old school headmaster Vasant Soma Talandi was recovered from a stream in Sipanpalli village on Tuesday. The resident of Jonawahi village in Bhamragad tehsil served as headmaster at a Zilla Parishad primary school in the secluded village of Palle, authorities revealed.
