Maharashtra is gearing up for a massive public health initiative to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday. State BJP President Ravindra Chavan announced plans to perform over one lakh cataract surgeries during the fortnight-long drive.
The campaign, commencing on September 17, aims to ensure eye examinations for at least 10 lakh people and distribute spectacles to those in need. This comprehensive healthcare effort is being organized in collaboration with various NGOs and social groups, portraying it as a community service project, Chavan stated.
Additionally, the BJP intends to host blood donation camps and implement 17 other programs over the two-week period. Despite criticism from opposition parties regarding financial constraints, Chavan emphasized the administration's commitment to welfare measures, including providing basic necessities to citizens.
