In a troubling case of alleged medical negligence, the parents of a nine-year-old girl have raised accusations against doctors at a district hospital after their daughter's arm was amputated following complications from a fracture.
The State Health Minister, Veena George, on Friday called for a thorough investigation into the matter, directing the Director of the Health Department to look into the claims and ensure appropriate action is taken.
Contrary to the parents' allegations, the hospital's superintendent, Dr. P K Jayasree, asserted that the hospital provided the required medical care once the girl presented with a broken arm. She stated the condition was a 'rare occurrence' stemming from 'unpredictable reasons.'
