New Jayadeva Satellite Unit Revolutionizes Cardiac Care in West Bengaluru

In a significant development for healthcare in Karnataka, the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) to establish a 100-bed satellite unit in West Bengaluru's Govindarajanagara. This expansion drives home the state government's commitment to decentralizing healthcare, a promise made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the budget.

The unit will be strategically located in an existing multispeciality facility and aims to serve residents from several localities, including Vijayanagar, Rajajinagar, and beyond. The initiative is expected to ease the burden on Jayadeva's primary hospital in Jayanagar by bringing specialized cardiac care closer to underserved populations.

With an initial funding of Rs 15 crore from the state government, the project also sees involvement from local leaders like MLA Priya Krishna, who is ensuring additional resources. Plans are underway to further expand the Jayadeva network across Bengaluru, enhancing medical services and education facilities in the region.
