Kerala's Urgent Response: Tackling the Snakebite Crisis

In response to a sudden increase in snakebite incidents, Kerala's Health Minister, Veena George, announced urgent measures to enhance treatment protocols. With four reported snakebite deaths in a single week, the state has prioritized ensuring sufficient anti-venom supplies across 146 hospitals.

George urged the public to utilize the Kanivu 108 ambulance service, which is equipped with trained emergency medical technicians. These teams are prepared to provide immediate first aid and can quickly transport patients to facilities with the necessary anti-venom.

Emphasizing rapid response, George advised keeping snakebite victims calm and minimizing movement until medical help arrives. As temperatures rise, snakes are increasingly entering homes, alerting residents to remain vigilant and prepared.
