In Maharashtra's Beed district, a video surfaced showing five women recovering from family planning surgery on the floor of a Primary Health Centre, triggering urgent intervention by Health Minister Prakash Abitkar. The minister ensured that beds were provided to these women post-surgery.
The incident occurred during a surgical camp in a remote area, where the government-run health facility, equipped with only ten beds, received 15 women for the procedure. Despite being urged to return later due to bed shortages, the women, who are seasonal migrants, insisted on proceeding with the surgeries.
National attention was drawn after footage of their condition was aired, prompting immediate action. Health Officer Ashok Gavali sanctioned five additional beds, ensuring proper recovery conditions for all 15 women who underwent surgery. The health of the women was reported to be good post-operation.
