Officials confirmed the incident, which occurred after the passenger experienced labor pains en route. The train was stopped at B C Road station in Bantwal taluk to seek medical help for the woman.
For over 30 minutes, no medical professionals arrived, compelling two co-passengers to intervene. They assisted in the delivery, which took place in the train's toilet compartment. Both mother and newborn are safe, reported railway officials, who arranged for the woman to be transferred to a medical facility.
Admitted to the Government Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangaluru, the mother and child received postnatal care. According to the OBG department, the delivery was executed under challenging conditions, yet the makeshift assistance proved effective. Hospital officials highlight that no complications occurred, and both mother and neonate are in stable condition.
