Tensions flared at Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital on Saturday as family members of a newborn staged a protest, claiming medical negligence caused the infant's death.
The mother, who hails from Kumbharia village in Bhadrak district, was admitted for labor on Friday. The baby, born later that evening, was soon referred for advanced care but died, leading to accusations against hospital staff.
Jajpur police intervened to control the situation as the family demanded an investigation. CDMO Bijay Kumar Mishra assured them that the incident would be thoroughly examined and any found negligence would be punished.
