Artificial intelligence is poised to steer the next wave of progress in the healthcare sector, enhancing accessibility and empowering consumers, according to Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO of the National Health Authority (NHA).
Speaking at a Confederation of Indian Industry session, Barnwal highlighted AI's pivotal role in the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and urged healthcare entities to register under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) to streamline claims through the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX) platform.
Dr. Naresh Trehan, CII Healthcare Council Chairman, emphasized that India has the potential to revolutionize its healthcare system, given its medical talent, despite no country achieving a perfect system. Former NITI Aayog member Dr. VK Paul stressed the need for policy frameworks for AI, while Archana Vyas of the Gates Foundation focused on reaching marginalized communities to prevent maternal and child deaths.
