Ebola Resurfaces: New Outbreak in Congo's Ituri Province

Africa CDC, the continent's leading public health organization, announced on Friday the emergence of a new Ebola outbreak in the remote Ituri province of Congo. According to the CDC, there are 246 suspected cases alongside 65 reported fatalities linked to the outbreak.
Most of these cases and deaths have been documented in the Mongwalu and Rwampara health zones, prompting urgent responses from health agencies to contain the spread of the virus. The CDC reported four fatalities from laboratory-confirmed cases, reinforcing concerns over its epidemic potential.
Additionally, suspected cases have emerged in Bunia, though these are yet to be confirmed. Health officials are ramping up efforts to test and treat individuals in order to prevent further transmission and mitigate this health crisis.
