U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the urgent need for de-escalation after Pakistan initiated another round of firing along the PoJK border. Speaking with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Rubio reinforced U.S. support for a direct dialogue between India and Pakistan, urging both nations to improve communications.

Rubio expressed his condolences over the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and reassured India's commitment to combat terrorism. Minister Jaishankar appreciated this stance, emphasizing India's measured response to cross-border terrorism and its resolve to counter any escalation attempts.

The current tension on the India-Pakistan border escalated when Pakistan launched missiles towards several Indian regions, prompting air defense responses. Following a style reminiscent of Hamas operations, explosions were reported as Indian defenses intercepted Pakistani drones. Complete blackouts were executed in several areas as precautionary measures against further potential attacks.

In response to the Pahalgam attack, India initiated Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan through precision strikes. At a recent media briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri asserted that any further escalation by Pakistan would be met with appropriate retaliation, reiterating India's strategic restraint and focus on non-civilian targets.

Diplomatic efforts remain crucial as U.S. India, and Pakistan navigate through this heightened period of tension, aiming for peace and stability in the region.
