Amid the backdrop of the 59th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein (TCSL) staged a peaceful protest to spotlight ongoing Chinese government repressions. The event, as reported by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), brought together representatives from Tibetan, Uyghur, and Christian communities.

Representative Thinley Chukki of the Tibet Bureau highlighted the persistent suffering of Tibetans under Chinese rule for nearly seven decades. Addressing the gathering, she warned of the broadening scope of Chinese transnational repression, emphasizing its impact on Tibetans, Uyghurs, and Chinese Christians worldwide. She expressed concerns over threats to Tibetan culture, including forced indoctrination and environmental damages caused by extensive dam constructions.

Chukki drew attention to the dire religious suppression in Tibet, noting government control over monasteries and the mysterious 30-year disappearance of the 11th Panchen Lama. As the protest coincided with the 90th birthday of the Dalai Lama, the event was also a reflection of His Holiness' enduring message of peace and compassion, concluding with prayers for global harmony.
