The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has condemned the ongoing detention of its leaders under the Maintenance of Public Order (3MPO) legislation. This, they argue, is in direct violation of Pakistan's constitution. Sabiha Baloch, a central BYC leader, highlighted the issue in a video shared on 'X' this Wednesday.
Despite the lapse of the three-month detention period on June 22, the leaders including Maharaj Baloch, Shahji Baloch, Biberk Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, and Bibhu Baloch remain incarcerated without a review or due legal process. The BYC criticizes this practice as a loophole in the justice system, citing delays in both High Court and Supreme Court interventions.
The committee urges journalists, lawyers, and human rights advocates to challenge the colonial-era 3MPO, arguing it's being used to stifle political dissent and hinder the Baloch community's push for constitutional rights. Their primary demand is the immediate release of detained leaders, emphasizing that ongoing silence equates to repression.
