In a fervent critique on Friday, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh unleashed a scathing rebuke targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, accusing them of displaying 'extreme moral cowardice'. This critique was directed at their reticence concerning Israel's controversial military actions in Gaza, which Ramesh described as 'genocide'.

Ramesh, articulating his stance in a post made on the platform X, lambasted the Indian government for its continued silence as he highlighted Israel's widely-criticized intentions to occupy Gaza City. He indicated that their planned occupation includes the establishment of a 'civil administration', a move sanctioned by Israel's Security Cabinet as proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Israeli Security Cabinet has endorsed a five-point plan aimed at concluding the conflict with Hamas. Central to this strategy are terms such as 'disarming Hamas', 'demilitarization of the Gaza Strip', and 'establishing an alternative civil administration'. Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress has expressed its objection, framing Israel's strategies as a threat to humanity.
