Amidst a rapidly evolving global trade environment, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun has stated that the recent US tariffs were anticipated, but through targeted negotiations, South Korea achieved a mutually beneficial agreement with the US. In an ANI interview, Cho articulated that the trade discussions culminated in a 'win-win proposal'.

US President Donald Trump detailed the negotiated trade agreement on July 31 via Truth Social, emphasizing South Korea's commitment to a substantial $350 billion investment in US-owned enterprises and a $100 billion purchase of American LNG and energy products. The strategy also includes an open trade policy between the two nations, highlighted by a 15 percent tariff on South Korean exports.

In contrast, the US has levied a 50 percent tariff on Indian goods, attributing the decision to India's persistent import of Russian oil. South Korea's diplomatic efforts reflect a keen strategic balancing, focused on fostering constructive international partnerships amidst challenging tariff landscapes.
