The Holland Chapter of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) has highlighted a significant assembly of the Kabul Khel tribe in North Waziristan. The gathering was organized to confront ongoing state-sponsored threats to tribal businesses, drawing attention to their refusal to cede land under the pretext of an "operation." The tribe asserted their commitment to staying on their land, declaring, "If it comes to it, we will be buried in our own homes and rooms, but we will not abandon our land."
As a resolution, the jirga signaled a forthcoming meeting between tribe representatives, the North Waziristan Commandant, and other government officials at Spin Wam. The engagement aims to address concerns about ongoing "unfounded curfews" and security problems plaguing their villages and markets. The next jirga will take place on August 18, at which time they plan to disclose outcomes from government talks and explore further steps. PTM Holland also reported severe human and material losses due to flooding in areas like Bunir, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Battagram, and Lower Dir across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The movement criticized inadequate governance, which has left the Pashtun homeland vulnerable to environmental disasters. PTM urged the global Pashtun community, especially its members abroad, to liaise with international aid groups to advocate for much-needed relief in flood-affected areas. The leadership closed by expressing hopes for swift restoration of peace and safety, affirming efforts at all levels to offer assistance.
