In a significant diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a telephonic conversation with Sushila Karki, Interim Prime Minister of Nepal. Modi extended heartfelt condolences over the loss of lives during the recent protests in Nepal, reaffirming India's full support for the nation's efforts towards peace and stability.

According to an official statement by the Ministry of External Affairs, Modi congratulated Prime Minister Karki on her appointment, offering best wishes on behalf of India. Emphasizing the special bilateral ties, Modi assured continued collaboration to enhance the relationship between the two countries and support Nepal's pursuit of progress and stable governance.

Nepal's interim Prime Minister thanked Modi for India's steadfast support. As the country experiences profound political changes driven by the Gen Z-led movement, Karki, Nepal's first female Prime Minister, expressed commitment to accountable governance. Her tenure will last until March 2026, culminating in a new leadership election.
