Sambhali Trust, an Indian non-governmental organization, has taken a strong stance on the global stage at the 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, calling for fortified measures to uphold the rights of older adults. Govind Singh Rathore, the founder, emphasized the necessity of ensuring seniors are respected and protected as part of creating equitable societies.

"Around the world, older persons grapple with daily discrimination, exclusion, and rights violations," Rathore declared. He noted their particular vulnerabilities in areas such as healthcare and social security that urgently require global attention. While Sambhali Trust predominantly empowers women and children, respect for the elderly is integrated within their mission.

Sambhali Trust's initiatives in Rajasthan have reached over 77,800 individuals, incorporating elder respect and support across social, health, and legal services. Rathore highlighted India's efforts, citing the Maintenance and Welfare of Senior Citizens Act, 2007, and the National Policy for Older Persons, as well as welfare programs like Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and Elderline helpline.

While applauding the United Nations' efforts towards a global treaty for elder rights, Rathore urged international communities to bolster protections for seniors, reaffirming their societal value. The UN Human Rights Council, an influential intergovernmental body, continues to address global human rights promotion and infractions, meeting at the UN Office in Geneva throughout the year.
