The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to Umar Ansari, embroiled in a forgery case. The younger son of the deceased Mukhtar Ansari, a notorious gangster-turned-politician, Umar faced accusations of using counterfeit documents and a forged signature to reclaim seized property in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district.
The case alleges that Umar attempted to use the fake signature of his mother, Afsa Ansari, to his advantage, complicating his legal standings. Justice Gautam Chaudhary passed the order for bail following a plea by Umar after the lower court's refusal.
Previously arrested in Lucknow and booked by the Mohammadabad Police, Umar was initially remanded to judicial custody. It was only after the district court's denial of bail that the high court intervention was sought.
