Amid escalating tensions, U.S. President Donald Trump is considering providing Ukraine with U.S.-made Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles. As reported by local media, Trump expressed intentions to converse with Russia before finalizing the decision. Speaking aboard Air Force One en route to West Asia on Sunday, Trump stated his readiness to send the missiles to Kyiv should the Ukraine conflict remain unresolved, according to Russian news agency TASS.

From the perspective of NATO ally Estonia, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna commended the potential U.S. move, suggesting it would help in 'pushing Russia back' and send a powerful signal to Moscow, reported ABC News. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed Kyiv's interest in the long-range weaponry, noting its significant impact on the military front. Zelenskyy articulated these remarks following discussions with Trump, highlighting that their dialogues addressed the war, Ukraine's military capabilities, and the energy sector.

The Kremlin, on the other hand, has demonstrated apprehension. As reported by TASS, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned against the deployment of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, emphasizing that such actions require direct U.S. military involvement, marking a potential escalation between Russia and the U.S. The missiles, crafted by RTX Corporation, enable precision strikes and could substantially augment Ukraine's military reach if provided.
