External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi convened for a bilateral meeting on Friday during the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi. On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with Foreign Minister Araghchi marked a critical moment in the bilateral relationship between India and Iran. The Iranian Embassy in India shared the meeting details on social media, underscoring the event's importance in the bilateral trajectory of these two ancient civilisations.

In a keynote address at the BRICS meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi criticized American coercion, advocating for collective resistance from BRICS nations. He emphasized the need for these nations to jointly oppose what he described as 'US bullying' and consigned such tactics to history. His remarks underscored the strategic importance of BRICS as a platform for mediation in volatile geopolitics.
