Sindhi Rights Group Calls for Global Intervention Against Pakistani Oppression
The Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) has accused Pakistan of systematic repression and crimes against Sindhi activists. The group urges global organizations to investigate human rights abuses, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings, demanding the release of political prisoners and an end to military and economic exploitation of Sindh.
The Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), under the leadership of Shafi Burfat, has launched a scathing critique against the Pakistani state, accusing it of systemic repression against Sindhi political activists. The organization has approached global entities, including the United Nations and the European Union, to highlight alleged human rights abuses, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings.
In their vehement statement, JSMM claimed that Sindh, with its rich historical and cultural identity, has been reduced to a mere colony under what they described as Punjabi military dominance. The group condemned Pakistan as a 'military-religious fascist state' that represses democratic freedoms and targets minority groups such as the Sindhis, Baloch, Pashtuns, and Saraikis, accusing the ISI of operating clandestine detention centers without trials.
The appeal highlighted the disappearance of key JSMM figures like Roheel Laghari and others, claiming they are victims of forced disappearances by security forces, with some later found dead. The JSMM urged international bodies to push Pakistan to free all political prisoners and demanded an independent investigation into these serious allegations of human rights violations in Sindh.
