Iran has issued a strong condemnation of recent 'self-defence strikes' conducted by the United States military, as well as a maritime blockade imposed on its ports. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement translated by the Iranian Embassy in India, accused the US of revealing its "dishonesty and unreliability" during ongoing diplomatic negotiations to resolve the West Asian crisis.

The statement noted that the US military continues "unlawful and unjustifiable actions," including maritime piracy against Iranian commercial vessels and a 'flagrant violation' of a ceasefire announced on April 8, 2026. These criticisms came in response to strikes against Iranian missile launch sites and vessels near the Strait of Hormuz, cited as self-defense moves by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) amid an ongoing ceasefire.

Furthermore, Iran criticized the timing of these US actions, which coincide with diplomatic efforts led by Pakistan to end the conflict, highlighting what they regard as the US's dishonest diplomatic conduct. The statement accused the US of violating Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter and the April 2026 ceasefire agreement, holding Washington fully accountable for any arising consequences. Iran also signaled its resolve to respond to any acts of aggression to defend its sovereignty.
