Ebola Outbreak Escalates in the Democratic Republic of Congo

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is worsening, with authorities disclosing 1,077 suspected cases and 246 deaths as reported this Wednesday.

Laboratories have confirmed 121 infections, including 17 fatalities, as per the DPA.

The World Health Organization raises concerns that the actual number of cases is likely underreported, especially in the Ituri province, which lies on the border with Uganda and South Sudan and where the outbreak was initially overlooked for weeks.
