In a move to ensure public safety, Mohali's district administration has mandated the nighttime closure of cinema halls and shopping malls, effective May 9, amidst rising India-Pakistan tensions.
The order, issued by Mohali Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, cites intelligence reports indicating a potential air strike threat. To mitigate this risk, the administration has also banned the use of power backups and urged residents to stay indoors unless urgent during evening hours.
The directive, exempting law enforcement and emergency services, remains in force until further notice, with any violations subject to legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
