The construction of a flyover in Ranchi has come to a halt as National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) member Asha Lakra urged state authorities to pause work amid protests from tribal organizations.
Tribal groups claim the flyover ramp in the Siram Toli area obstructs the revered Sarna Sthal, compromising its sanctity. Lakra, after visiting the site and meeting with tribal leaders, confirmed the protesters' concerns.
While a scheduled meeting between NCST and the state government was delayed, a new date is anticipated soon. The flyover project, valued at Rs 340 crore, aims to alleviate traffic but is currently stalled to address the tribals' demands.
