Delhi Police have detained a man involved in a brazen cyber fraud scheme. Rahul Dev, a 33-year-old from Faridabad, posed as a casting agent for a well-known music company to deceive aspiring actors and models. Authorities caught up with the accused in Chandigarh, according to an official statement on Tuesday.

The scam came to light when a resident of Shahdara reported being approached via social media by someone falsely claiming to be part of a music company's casting team. The victim, promised a role in a music video, was instructed to pay over Rs 20,000 for flight bookings to an alleged audition, with the assurance of a refund.

Further investigations, initiated after an April 11 FIR, led the police to trace a fraudulent bank account to Ekta Sharma, who revealed she was operating under Dev's instructions. On May 6, Dev was arrested in Chandigarh, with the investigation revealing that Dev and an accomplice had defrauded at least 17 individuals using similar tactics.
