The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is scheduled to participate in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation meeting in Istanbul this Saturday, as confirmed by a Turkish foreign ministry source. The session is set against the backdrop of ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
The focus of the 51st OIC Council of Foreign Ministers is Israel's latest military actions against Iran, including the recent attack on the Khondab nuclear site in Arak. The Israeli military claims it targeted an unfinished heavy-water reactor, potentially capable of producing weapons-grade plutonium, actions criticized by Turkey as illegal.
As the summit opens, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will call for solidarity among Muslim nations in response to destabilizing actions in the region. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan is also expected to address the gathering. The OIC, with its 57 member states, remains a vital platform for political and diplomatic engagement among Muslim countries.
