A shocking crime unfolded in Odisha's Ganjam district as a 38-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly murdering her husband. The incident occurred at Mundamarai village under the jurisdiction of Dharakote police station on Wednesday afternoon.
Anjana Nayak, the accused, reportedly confessed to strangling her husband, Amar Nayak, following a heated argument, described Inspector Chandrika Swain. Amar Nayak, a habitual alcoholic, was alleged to have physically abused Anjana for years.
The couple's two children were not at home during the incident. The case came to light when Amar's elder brother, Tuna Nayak, lodged an FIR, prompting police to recover the body. Investigations are continuing, police note.
