The Delhi Police issued an apology after mistakenly identifying a Noida-based journalist as a suspect in a criminal investigation, officials stated on Friday.

In the course of tracking the accused, identified as Rahul from Bahadurgarh, officers from the Prem Nagar Police Station arrived at a petrol station in Noida's Sector 38, where they encountered a man whose description matched that of their suspect. The man, Rahul Shah, later proved to be a journalist.

Upon realizing their error, the police team expressed regret and promptly disengaged, ensuring that no force was employed during the incident. The mix-up stemmed from similarities in the name and appearance between the real suspect and Shah. The incident has been documented internally, with no further action expected to follow.
