Kerala Ministers Criticize Amit Shah's Remarks on English Language

In a sharp retort to Union Minister Amit Shah's reported comments on the English language, Kerala Ministers R Bindu and V Sivankutty have expressed strong disapproval. They labeled Shah's views as 'restrictive' and 'narrow-minded,' stressing the critical role of English in fostering global communication.

State Higher Education Minister Bindu highlighted English's indispensability, pointing out its widespread use not only for interpersonal communication but also as the dominant language on the internet. She argued that discouraging English learning risks isolating India's younger generation in an increasingly interconnected world.

Echoing a similar sentiment, State General Education Minister Sivankutty emphasized the equal importance of all languages and criticized any perception of linguistic hierarchy. Both ministers reinforced the value of India's linguistic diversity, declaring it a national strength that should be safeguarded.
