In a significant bust, Punjab Police have dismantled a cross-border drug smuggling operation, arresting two individuals who were allegedly in contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler. This was announced by a top police officer on Saturday.

Recovered from the accused were 6.15 kg of heroin, a .30 bore pistol with four cartridges, and Rs 10,000 in cash. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav identified the detained individuals as Lovepreet Singh, also known as Love, and Balwinder Singh, alias Bobby, in a post on social media platform X.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused maintained direct contact with the smuggler through WhatsApp, hinting at a well-established cross-border nexus. An FIR has been registered at the Lopoke police station in Amritsar, with further investigations underway to track forward and backward linkages, according to Yadav.
