A school judo-karate coach was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a minor student, according to police reports on Saturday. The judgment was delivered by Special Judge Sangeeta under the POCSO Act, finding the accused, Manish alias Max, guilty in the longstanding case.
The case emerged in 2023 when a woman reported that Manish had raped her minor daughter and threatened her against taking legal action. Following the lodging of an FIR, police arrested Manish, who was subsequently charged under various sections of the IPC and POCSO Act, leading to a trial.
After the investigation was completed, a chargesheet was filed, guiding the court to deliver a life sentence and a fine of Rs 50,000. The victim's family revealed their daughter was a junior-level judo player coached by Manish at her school, concluding the trial with the coach's conviction.
