The Delhi High Court has mandated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to set up a medical board to re-evaluate the medical disqualification of Shlok Sachin, a candidate who successfully cleared the NDA exam. Sachin was deemed unfit for the Indian Air Force due to a blood disorder.
Justice Pratibha M Singh and Justice Rajneesh Kumar Gupta reviewed a plea challenging the medical ineligibility decision communicated by the Air Force Central Medical Establishment on March 18 and May 22. Sachin, diagnosed with haemoglobinopathies (HbE trait), contests the verdict that bars his enrollment in the Indian Air Force.
The court noted the lack of clarity in the appeal board's decision that upheld Sachin's disqualification. Instructions have been issued for a detailed medical report from AIIMS before the next hearing on July 25, providing a conclusive expert opinion on the candidate's medical eligibility.
