In Maharashtra's Thane district, a deadly collision between a car and a motorbike triggered chaos, resulting in villagers attacking police officers and vehicles amid mounting tensions, officials reported.
On Saturday night, the incident unfolded near Malshej Ghat, when a motorbike carrying three individuals collided with a car en route for a picnic. Upon hearing the news, villagers rushed to the scene, assaulting the car's occupants. The Tokawade police eventually intervened, rescuing the severely beaten car passengers and retreating to safety in a police jeep. However, the villagers' ire was misdirected, leading to an attack on the police, injuring several officers.
Authorities eventually quelled the unrest, preventing further harm, and sent additional forces to maintain order. Two separate FIRs were filed—one against the car driver for the accident and another against the villagers involved in the assault.
