Bhupesh Baghel Stands with Villagers: Opposes Tree Felling for Coal Mine
Former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel rallied against tree felling in Raigarh's Tamnar tehsil for a coal mine project. The mine, managed by MAHAGENCO and contracted to the Adani group, faces local opposition. Baghel criticized the BJP government's handling of state resources and support of tribal rights.

Bhupesh Baghel, former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and senior Congress leader, has taken a stand against a controversial coal mine project in Raigarh's Tamnar tehsil. The project, which involves tree cutting in a forested area, has sparked protests from local villagers.
The coal mine at the center of this dispute is allotted to Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO), with the mine developer and operator contract granted to the Adani group. The commencement of tree felling last week in the region between Mudagaon and Saritola villages has prompted fierce local opposition.
Accompanied by more than 20 MLAs and Congress workers, Baghel visited the area to lend support to the aggrieved villagers. He addressed concerns about the alleged handover of the state's natural resources to private entities, accusing the state government of sidelining tribal rights. He criticized the recent transition in power to the BJP, which he claims resulted in the exploitation of Chhattisgarh's environmental and mineral assets.
