In a dramatic escalation of political tensions in Karnataka, Congress MLA B R Patil has accused his own government of rampant corruption within its housing schemes for the economically disadvantaged. The allegations have set the stage for a potential confrontation, as the BJP gears up to protest against the state's ruling party for its alleged malpractices.
Patil, also the Deputy Chairman of the Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission, reportedly had a conversation with the Housing Minister's secretary, which has since been circulated widely. In the leaked audio clip, Patil claims bribery in the allocation of houses, significantly embarrassing the Congress government. Despite facing backlash, he affirmed to reporters that the statements in the audio were true, indicating a willingness to discuss the matter further with the chief minister.
Reacting to the situation, BJP state president B Y Vijayendra accused the Congress of failing the poor and fostering an environment of 'sponsored corruption.' Highlighting the allegations as evidence of systemic issues, Vijayendra announced that the BJP would initiate protests to spotlight the need for transparency and accountability in governance.
