In a significant move to maintain public decency, a 20-year-old man was arrested in Bhadohi's Katra Bazaar for making obscene remarks and gestures at women. The incident, reported on Monday, has raised concerns about women's safety in public spaces.
According to Inspector Sachchidanand Pandey, the accused, Anuj Kumar Gupta from Jaunpur district, was caught flaunting vulgar behavior in the area. His actions were witnessed by members of the Anti-Romeo Squad, who were deployed to ensure women's safety.
Head Constable Poonam Rai and Constable Premlata confronted Gupta after observing his inappropriate conduct. Despite their presence, Gupta reportedly continued his misconduct, leading to his immediate detention and a formal complaint under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 296.
